No experience with the first year low HP 250's but my buddy had a 1980 Granada sedan with the 250/automatic and it was never anywhere near that slow. We generally got 0-60 times with both of us in the car around the 15-16 second mark. A former high school student with a 1978 blue coupe and the 250/auto was able to spin the rear.
