Floyd Rose or Hardtail for lead guitar? Hi all. I play lead guitar and do a lot of metal solos. I'm really torn between a Floyd Rose or Hardtail model of the Schecter Hellraiser C1. I've done my research, and I've come up with the following results: Floyd Rose: Pros: Stays in tune better Can do dive bombs and harmonic vibrato with whammy bar Cons:

If it were mine, I'd probably just get a Tusq pre-slotted nut and glue it into place. A 43mm, flat bottom nut should work just fine, all you need to do is sand it down to the proper height. I believe it is part # pq-5043-00. A little white glue should do the trick, and should be easy enough to remove if you decide to go back to the floyd at.

The guitar will be an unfinished warmoth alder Soloist body with a strat neck (maple w/ maple fretboard), two humbuckers, 1 volume, 3-way toggle switch and black hardware. How to Hardtail a Floyd Rose The Floyd Rose Tremolo System is a patented design that allows the player to infinitely raise or lower their guitar's pitch without having to detune it. The system works by allowing for the strings to be locked into place at any point along the neck while still keeping enough tension on them to stay in tune when played.

A Floyd Rose setup relies a lot on the present tension of your tuned strings, along with the floating tremolo's springs. The pressure between the strings and the springs maintains the balance within the Floyd Rose system and a single string breakage can impact your instrument's tuning. Re: SLSMG! Questions? Hardtail vs. Floyd Rose. BTW, a hardtail bridge would put the strings closer to the body, like a guitar with a recessed Floyd or vintage trem. TOMs are higher up off the body and have neck angles that are tilted back more (like a Les Paul, any Jackson with a TOM bridge, or guitars with non-recessed Floyds).
